SNUBBER

SNUBBER

A Snubber is a protective device used in pressure instrumentation systems to dampen sudden pressure spikes or pulsations that can damage sensitive instruments such as pressure gauges, transmitters, and switches. Installed between the process line and the measuring instrument, a snubber moderates rapid pressure fluctuations, allowing instruments to respond more steadily and accurately over time. Snubbers are essential in applications involving pulsating pressure from reciprocating pumps, compressors, hydraulic systems, or high-pressure steam. By reducing pressure shocks and spikes, they help extend the life of pressure instruments and improve measurement stability.

  • Threaded connections: Typically NPT male x NPT female for easy inline installation.
  • Variety of internal elements: Porous metal, sintered discs, piston-type, or capillary tubes to suit different damping needs.
  • Material options: Brass, stainless steel, or other alloys for media compatibility.
  • Adjustable flow restriction (in some models): Allows tuning based on system dynamics.
  • Compact and rugged design: Suitable for harsh industrial environments.
  • Pressure ratings: Available in various pressure classes, from low to high pressure.
  • Provides directional flexibility during installation.
  • Enables compact routing of tubing in tight spaces.
  • Reduces stress on tubing and threaded connections.
  • Offers secure, leak-tight performance in demanding systems.
  • Ideal for instrumentation, hydraulic, and process applications.
