PURGE VALVE
PURGE VALVE
A Purge Valve is a specialized valve used to release or “purge” unwanted gases, air, or fluids from a piping or instrumentation system. It ensures that the process lines, equipment, or enclosures are clean and free of contaminants before startup or during maintenance. Purge valves are commonly found in pneumatic, hydraulic, gas sampling, and instrument air systems where system integrity and cleanliness are critical. These valves are typically small, easy to operate, and available in 1/8″, 1/4″, or 1/2″ NPT sizes. They are often mounted on manifolds, cylinder blocks, or other pressure-retaining components and can include knurled hand wheels or lever-operated handles for manual operation.
- Simple on/off mechanism: Designed for manual or automated purging.
- Compact construction: Ideal for panel-mounted or tight-space applications.
- Threaded connections: Commonly NPT or BSP male/female ends for easy installation.
- Metal or soft-seat options: Depending on the required sealing performance.
- Optional vent ports: Directs purged fluid or gas safely away from the operator.
- Material options: Stainless steel, brass, or high-grade plastics for corrosion resistance.
- Removes trapped air or gas from systems to improve performance and safety.
- Protects equipment by eliminating contaminants before operation.
- Reduces downtime by enabling quick line clearing before maintenance or measurement.
- Improves accuracy of pressure instruments by removing false readings caused by gas pockets.
- Versatile and easy to use, suitable for a wide range of applications across industries.
